The responsibility for European affairs – except for the affairs related to the common foreign and security policy - was transferred from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to the Office for European Affairs of the Prime Ministers’ Office as from 1 January 2005. The Office was established on the basis of the State Secretariat for Integration and External Relations which operated earlier within the frames of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. Supervision and direction of the Office for European Affairs The Office for European Affairs is supervised by the minister without portfolio responsible for European affairs and directed by the president of the Office. Péter Györkös responsible for EU Coordination The rules laying down the detailed tasks and provisions of the Office for European Affairs are Government Regulation 356/2004. (XII.23.) on the Office for European Affairs and Government Regulation 334/2004.
